This RP applies to all parts of a pipeline or pipeline facility including line pipe, pump station piping, terminal piping, compressor station piping, metering station piping, delivery station piping, regulator station piping, appurtenances connected to line pipe, appurtenances connected to facility piping, fabricated assemblies, valves, tees, elbows, reducers, flanges, and any other pipeline equipment or appurtenances.
This RP does not apply to pumping units, compressor units, breakout tanks, pressure vessels, control piping, sample piping, instrument piping/tubing, or any component or piping system for which other codes specify pressure testing requirements (i.e. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, piping systems covered by building codes, etc.).
Although this RP contains guidelines that are based on sound engineering judgment, it is important to note that certain governmental requirements may differ from the guidelines presented in this document.
This RP does not address piping systems that are pressure tested with natural gas, nitrogen, or air.

ISO 5256 - Steel Pipes and Fittings for Buried or Submerged Pipelines - External and Internal Coating by B

1985

This International Standard specifies the bitumen and coal tar derived coatings suitable for protecting the external and internal surfaces of steel pipes and fittings, either individually or after assembly, and used in buried pipelines or conduits, or underground galleries, or submerged, and also the conditions for the application of such protective coatings.
In the case of submerged pipes, special provisions shall be taken with regard to laying or immersion conditions (depth, fresh water, salt water).
These specifications cover use for the transport of fluids the temperatures of which are within the following limits :
a) − 10 °C, + 80°C1) if only an external coating is applied;
b) 0 °C, + 40 °C if an internal coating is applied (only or additionally).
In a case where different temperatures are required, the bitumen or coal tar derived materials to be used shall present characteristics to be defined by agreement between the parties concerned.
The internal protective coatings of pipes intended for the transport of potable water and food products shall satisfy the public hygiene criteria of the country of use.

ASME B31.4 prescribes requirements for the design, materials, construction, assembly, inspection, testing, operation, and maintenance of liquid pipeline systems between production fields or facilities, tank farms, above- or belowground storage facilities, natural gas processing plants, refineries, pump stations, ammonia plants, terminals (marine, rail, and truck), and other delivery and receiving points, as well as pipelines transporting liquids within pump stations, tank farms, and terminals associated with liquid pipeline systems.  This Code also prescribes requirements for the design, materials, construction, assembly, inspection, testing, operation, and maintenance of piping transporting aqueous slurries of nonhazardous materials such as coal, mineral ores, concentrates, and other solid materials, between a slurry processing plant or terminal and a receiving plant or terminal.

ASME B31.12 - Hydrogen Piping and Pipeline

ASME B31.12 Standard on Hydrogen Piping and Pipelines contains requirements for piping in gaseous and liquid hydrogen service and pipelines in gaseous hydrogen service. The general requirements section covers materials, brazing, welding, heat treating, forming, testing, inspection, examination, operating, and maintenance.  The industrial piping section covers requirements for components, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, inspection, examination, and testing of piping.
This Code is applicable to piping in gaseous and liquid hydrogen service and to pipelines in gaseous hydrogen service. B31.12 is applicable up to and including the joint connecting the piping to associated pressure vessels and equipment but not to the vessels and equipment themselves. It is also applicable to the location and type of support elements, but not to the structure to which the support elements are attached.
