A Quick Guide to API 653 Certified Storage Tank Inspector Syllabus

2011

The book covers all the codes listed in the API 653 BOK (the so-called ‘effectivity list’), but only the content that is covered in the body of knowledge. Note that in some cases (e.g. API 650 Welded Tanks for Oil Storage) this represents only a small percentage of the full code content. In addition, the content of individual chapters of this book is chosen to reflect those topics that crop up frequently in the API 653 ICP examination. Surprisingly, some long-standing parts of the API 653 BOK have appeared very infrequently, or not at all, in recent examinations.

Above Ground Storage Tanks - Practical Guide to Construction, Inspection, and Tesing

2015

This book deals with every aspect that a construction team needs to know after receipt of an order to construct a storage tank at site. It describes all the activities that are to be carried out in a sequential manner. Although this book also touches on the design of foundations and mechanical design of storage tanks, these two topics are given only a superficial treatment and to provide an overview according to a preferred work sequence at the site.

API RP 652 - Lining of Aboveground Petroleum Storage Tank Bottoms

2014

This recommended practice (RP) provides guidance on achieving effective corrosion control in aboveground storage tanks by application of tank bottom linings. It contains information pertinent to the selection of lining materials, surface preparation, lining application, cure, and inspection of tank bottom linings for existing and new storage tanks. In many cases, tank bottom linings have proven to be an effective method of preventing internal corrosion of steel tank bottoms.

AWWA D100 - Welded Storage Tanks For Water Storage

1996

The purpose of this standard is to provide guidance to facilitate the design, manufacture, and procurement of welded steel tanks for the storage water.
1. Tunk roofs. All tanks storing potable water shall have roofs. Tanks storing nonportable water may be constructed without roofs

2. Items not covered. This standard does not cover all details of design and construction because of the large variety of sizes and shapes of tanks. Where details for any specific design are not given, it is intended that the constructor, subject to the approval of the purchaser, shall provide details that are designed and constructed to be adequate and as safe as those that would otherwise be provided under this standard. This standard does not cover concrete-steel composite tank construction. *

EEMUA No. 159 - Above ground flat bottomed storage tanks A guide to inspection maintenance and repair - 2017

2017

This guideline sets out the key features required for planning and executing inspection, maintenance and repair works on aboveground fully supported vertical steel storage tanks. The descriptions of key tank components that require inspection and/or maintenance, of degradation mechanisms, and of common inspection techniques, are followed by sections describing the Probabilistic (risk-based and reliability-based) Preventive Maintenance (PPM) concept, and for each tank component a detailed description of inspection and repair methods and degradation limits. Guidance is given on sources of additional information that will assist both continued operation and inspection. This document mainly addresses atmospheric storage tanks for oil and chemical products (referred to elsewhere in the text as conventional storage tanks). Tanks for refrigerated storage of liquefied
gases are covered in EEMUA 147(1)

EEMUA No. 217 - Safe and effective operation of storage tanks for oil movements

2011

Although this Publication has been developed specifically for oil movements, namely hydrocarbons, it includes much information relevant to the large-scale storage of other products. The oil movements covered include: liquids stored under atmospheric pressure, as well as LPG stored under pressure or under refrigerated and cryogenic conditions. Again, the advice given for these latter hydrocarbons may also be applicable for other refrigerated gas liquids but it is not the intention in this document to advise specifically on those products Oil movements occur in refineries, terminals and storage depots and this document can be considered applicable in all these situations.
