-This temporary repair is applied by welding on the sections having metal loss, to improve structural integrity of the thinned section and contain the leak in case the corrosion continued.

-Design and installation of welded patch repair shall follow guidelines in API 570 for piping, following detailed methods and requirements in ASME PCC-2 and in case of welding required while piping and pipeline are in-service, that welding shall follow requirements in API 2201.
